You can train to be a group leader on your schedule with these seven simple steps:

- Be a mature Christian
- Through the exercise of discipling gifts such as teaching or exhortation, apply biblical truth to daily life, encourage growth in others, and help disciples discover their giftedness and place of service
- Be willing to dedicate the time and energy necessary to disciple others
- Be approved by the church as a candidate for leading an INSTE group

- Certified Level One leader with experience leading an INSTE group.
- Graduate of INSTE Level Two or of an accredited Bible College or Seminary
- Demonstrated leadership qualities recognized by your church.

The $65 application fee (plus shipping) includes:
- Distance Leader Training Manual ($15)
- An interactive INSTE text ($30)
- The examination ($20) and certification
Applicants may purchase the other three books of Level One at half price at the time of the application.
An INSTE leader applying for recertification pays ONLY for the Distance Leader Training Manual plus the examination, a total of $35. The interactive INSTE text book is optional. |
The $85 application fee (plus shipping) includes:
- Distance Leader Training Manual ($15)
- The four books of semester 1 ($50—a 50% savings)
- The examination ($20) and certification
An INSTE leader applying for recertification pays ONLY for the Distance Leader Training Manual plus the examination, a total of $35. The interactive INSTE text book is optional. |

After two years of leading a group (four semesters), you may apply for recertification as an advanced leader. |
After three years of leading a group (a total of six semesters), you may apply for recertification as an advanced leader. |
| Advanced |
Your track record of leadership of INSTE groups and your successful reexamination will entitle you to receive recertification, valid for three years as an Advanced Leader. After you have led for three years as an advanced leader, you may apply for certification as a master leader. |
Your track record of leadership of INSTE groups and your successful reexamination will entitle you to receive recertification, valid for three more years as an Advanced Leader. After you have led six semesters as an advanced leader, you may apply for certification as a master leader. |
| Master |
As a master leader you will have lifetime certification. As long as you lead a group you will receive monthly INSTE updates in the Leader Letter plus any amendments to the DLT manual. |
