Dr. Clinton Passes a Baton to Nick and Leona Venditti
Dr. Clinton honored us with a baton at a meeting of former students in Pasadena last month. As all know who have studied in INSTE, Dr. J. Robert Clinton, Professor of Leadership, School of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary, was—and continues to be—an important mentor to us. We were asked to present INSTE as one of the two “case studies” at The Gathering–specifically the ways we have passed on leadership principles we learned in his classes and writings to INSTE students around the world. We received one of the nine batons Dr. Clinton passed out to certain graduates who have implemented his leadership principles. He also gave us a blessing which was a great encouragement to us.
Leadership Development Forum

Rev. Randall Bach, Regional Executive Director of the Eastern Region of Open Bible Churches is sponsoring a leadership forum this coming November (see the picture to the right).

We’ll be sharing about being Bible-centered leaders, how we can work together to develop leaders right where they are (without going into debt) and about leaders who will finish well. We’ll also talk about the advantages of getting an accredited degree through INSTE.

Most of all, we look forward to hearing from our pastors and leaders, dialoguing with them about how we can better serve them!

We’re available for your area, too. In fact, Nebraska District Superintendent Rev. Bill Jimenez has set up a Saturday forum for this next weekend, August 23rd, in Omaha. We’re also looking forward to being with them.

If you would like to schedule us for your area, just give us a call.

Fun Stuff

An old farmer went to the city one weekend and attended the big city church. When he got home his wife asked him how church was. “It was good,” he said. “They did something different however. They sang praise choruses instead of hymns.”

“Praise choruses?” asked his wife. “What’s that?”

“They’re sort of like hymns only different,” said the farmer. “If I were to say to you ‘Martha, the cows are in the corn’, that would be a hymn.”

“If on the other hand, I were to say to you, ‘Martha, Martha, Martha, Oh Martha, MARTHA, MARTHA, the cows, the big cows, the brown cows, the black cows, the white cows, the COWS, COWS, COWS are in the corn, are in the corn, are in the corn, are in the corn….’ that would be a praise chorus.”

LEVEL TWO FINAL EXAMS

With the initiation of the new database last month, we made two changes the way in which Level Two exams are graded.

1. Each question will be graded on a scale of 100 instead of 25. The back of the grade card the student receives will reflect that change.
2. Instead of adding all four scores together, the score for each question will be reflected in the grade for that course. The student will see this change reflected on the grade card. For example, for Church Leadership, he/she may get an 80 on the final, in Ecclesiology a 90, in Church History 1, 79 and in Church History 2, 88. The 40/60 percentages still apply.

Everything else stays the same. Students will continue to outline all the questions, and turn in the exams as usual. If possible, use CDs to submit the exams. If not, don’t worry; paper works.
